About

Rachel Anne Mclean is an introvert-extroverted, actor, writer, and performance artist from and currently based in Airdrie, Scotland.

As a Writer, Rachel can be influenced by anything that catches her eyes in a moment that she's finds exciting or real stories that she feels must be told. Rachel got into writing when she started drama school as it first allowed her to articulate her thoughts and research into one consistent train of thought, A story.

Her training between contemporary performance and Acting has allowed Rachel to develop and elevate her writing skills, having recently undertaking a placement with award winning writer Gary McNair, who motivated her and gave her the tools to begin writing her first play. Rachel hopes to undergo a mentorship through Playwright Studio Scotland to finish her play and to learn and continue to grow in her writings.

As an Actor, Rachel loves to perform, it's the reason she fell in love with theatre in the first place. Rachel has worked/performed in a production called "SHIFT" with the National Theatre of Scotland in 2018. She has also Played the role of the "skipper" in Lost at Sea by Morna Young and was directed by Liz Curruthers as part of the performance company short course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2019. Rachel's training within the RCS, apart from a bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Performance Practice includes the Acting 1/2, and the performance company short courses, as well as the Shakespeare, Acting Through Song and visual theatre modules. Rachel has also participated in multiple acting workshops in Glasgow.

As a Performance Artist, Rachel's practice is varied, and she is interested in using real voices and stories. Through her practice, she investigates herself and her history to explore the hidden issues within her community.
